De Groene Boog

NL

About

The 11-kilometre-long A16 Rotterdam is a new energy-neutral motorway that will improve the accessibility and liveability of the region by relieving the surrounding local roads.

Challenge

Such a project involves many different stakeholders, and risk management, failure reduction, and PTE (Practise, Training, and Education) are important factors for success.

Solution

By already thinking about the design and BIM process in the tender, a lot of time was gained after the contract was awarded. Process control secures the BIM process throughout the entire lifecycle. The digital twin TWIN16 facilitates virtual testing and the PTE principle.

Groene Boog new1

The De Groene Boog project fits Infranea perfectly, because it is large-scale and ambitious on various fronts. Working together on the project gives a lot of satisfaction and pride.

Michel Dekker

principal infrastructure, Infranea, member of VK architects+engineers

Consortium De Groene Boog is constructing a new energy-neutral motorway between the A13 at Rotterdam The Hague Airport and the A16/A20 at Terbregseplein. The 11km-long A16 Rotterdam ensures that traffic on the A13, A20 and surrounding local roads will soon be able to flow more smoothly. The new connection contributes to better accessibility, and the quality of life in the region.

Our approach

Infranea has been involved in the project since the tender phase, which at the time focused on (road) design and BIM. By thinking about the design process and the BIM process at the tender phase, a lot of time was saved after the project was awarded to the Consortium De Groene Boog. The win was primarily thanks to the fact that the ambitions and objectives were agreed on, and taking into account the recruitment of various disciplines.
After the project was awarded to DGB, Infranea’s assignment was expanded to include the Design and BIM team, and it also provided support to the disciplines TTI-DVM (Tunnel Technical Installations – Dynamic Traffic Management) and dimensioning.
